If you are sexually active, it is important to consider all options to protect you and your partner from sexually transmitted diseases and prevent pregnancy.

Here are two male over-the-counter options to consider:

  • Condoms work up to 98% of the time to stop contraception. They also protect you from sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI) like chlamydia and herpes.
  • Spermicide is a chemical that prevents pregnancy by killing sperm so they can’t fertilize an egg. It is available as a cream, film, foam, or gel. You can use a spermicide alone, but it’s usually combined with a barrier method, like a male condom.

Speak with our pharmacist if you have any questions about using condoms or spermicidal products.
